Kirsten Running-Marquardt

Kirsten Running-Marquardt was born and raised in southwest Cedar Rapids. She previously served in the Iowa House from 2009 to 2021 before being elected to the Linn County Board of Supervisors.

Today, Kirsten serves as Linn County’s District 1 Supervisor, as well as the 2024 chair of the board. The Linn County Board of Supervisors is the legislative, policy-making and administrative branch of county government. The Board is responsible for enforcing ordinances, setting the annual county levy rate, certifying the annual budget, overseeing Linn County’s budget, guiding the strategic direction of the County, and other matters related to the health and welfare of Linn County and its residents.

Kirsten is a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), Ironworkers Local 89, St. John XXIII Catholic Church, and board member for the Iowa Small Business Development Center, Iowa Workforce Development and the History Center (Linn County). She previously served as director of Iowa for Health Care and on the staff for the Iowa congressional delegation.

A graduate of LaSalle High School and an attendee of Kirkwood Community College, Kirsten has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public policy. She lives on the west side of Cedar Rapids with her husband and son.
