Mike Sadler
Mike Sadler grew up on a small farm in northeast Iowa, graduating from Starmont High School. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1990 and started his apprenticeship as a Union Pipefitter with the Local 125 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC).
Over several decades, Mike has worked in the Corridor as a Journeyman Pipefitter, Foreman, Superintendent and Project Manager. He has held various positions in Local 125 over the years, including Vice President, Treasurer, Committee Member of its PAC Fund and as Business Agent, where he worked with members of the Local 125 and the contractors to create a peaceful, productive work environment.
Mike has regularly worked with Iowa Locals and other states to procure qualified Plumbers and Pipefitters for construction jobs in the Local’s 25-county jurisdiction. He meets regularly with City and County Officials, State Representatives, and Senators and Signatory Contractors to protect worker rights and ensure safe and equitable construction and maintenance project completion.
In addition to serving on the LCGA Board, today Mike is the Chairman and a Trustee of the Local 125’s Health & Welfare Fund and Retirement Fund. He is a Trustee for the Local 125’s Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. Mike is also the President of the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Building and Construction Trades Council, a Board member of the Hawkeye Area Labor Council, a Board member of the East Central Iowa Workforce Development Board, a Board member of Local Union Community Charities (LUCC) and a Director for Built By Pros. He sits on the Cedar Rapids Community School District’s College and Career Readiness Task Force, Business Advisory Council and the Finance & Facilities Committee.
Mike and his wife have lived in the Center Point community for the last 30 years and have three grown children.
